One dive sup's comment about my buoyancy made me redo my whole weight setup
Was working a harbor job in Norfolk back in March, doing hull inspections on a barge. I always ran with 20 lbs on my belt cause that's what I used in school. Sup comes over after my first dive and just says 'you're working way too hard down there, drop 6 pounds and learn to breathe.' I thought he was full of it. Next dive I stripped down to 14 and holy hell, I wasn't fighting the whole time. My fin kicks got smoother, I used way less air, and my bottom time felt longer. Now I tell every new diver I see with a heavy belt, try less steel and more control. Anyone else get that wake-up call about weight, or did you guys learn it in training? I wasted like 2 years being stubborn.
