Overheard a guy at the dive shop say he never checks his drysuit valves before a job

That stuck with me because I saw a guy flood out on a 60-foot wreck dive last month because his exhaust valve was jammed open. How many of you actually inspect every valve before you suit up?

Man that's scary reckless. Most folks check the inflator and forget the exhaust valve entirely, but I had a buddy who tested his once on land, everything seemed fine, then at 40 feet the thing started free-flowing air out like crazy because the seat had a tiny crack you couldn't see unless you took the whole thing apart. You gotta pressurize the suit, close the valve, and actually dunk it in a bucket or something to see if it holds. A dry check tells you nothing.

Bucket test is non-negotiable, period.
