Stop treating a surface supply umbilical like it's a rope, I watched a guy in Port Fourchon almost drown from his own tangle
I keep seeing new tenders and even some working divers treat the umbilical like it's just a big hose you drag around, and it flat out gets people killed in the water. Two years back in Port Fourchon a diver on a dock job took a bad wrap around his manifold and the slack pinned him because nobody was tending him right. The hose doesn't float or swing the way a rope does, so once you get a loop over your gear at 60 feet you're fighting the current and your own air line at the same time. I run my own rig now and I will pull a guy off a job if he won't keep tension on the line and watch the diver, not his phone. Anybody else had to chew out a tender over this, or is it just me?

Started making my tenders wear a glove on the line hand, cut way down on the slack issues.
