The older diver in Houma who chewed me out for trusting my gauge over my ears
Three years back I was running a short job in 40 feet over in Houma and kept tapping my pressure gauge every few minutes like a nervous habit. An old diver named Curtis waved me off and told me flat out, "Your ears will flag a problem before that needle does." I argued that gauges don't lie, and he just looked at me and mentioned a fella he knew who blew an eardrum watching the dial instead of listening to his own head. Ever since then I've trusted my body over the instruments on the shallow stuff. Curious how many of you lean on gauges first versus what your head and ears are telling you.
