Tracked my repair tickets for 6 months, and one number came back that made me change how I quote jobs
I started logging every machine that came back to my bench for the same problem within 30 days, just out of frustration, and after 6 months the count hit 41. That is 41 out of 212 total jobs, so about one in five customers was paying me twice for something I thought I fixed the first time. When I went through the notes, 29 of those were machines where I never ran a full stress test after the repair, I just booted it and handed it back. I was quoting fast turnarounds at $85 flat and racing to get units out the door, which is exactly how you get a comeback. Now I add a 24 hour burn in on anything with a power or heat issue, even if it means the customer waits an extra day, and my return rate dropped to 6 in the last 3 months. If you track your own comebacks, what number surprised you, and did it change your bench process or just your pricing?
