Had a slab start to set way too fast on a job in Tempe last July

It was 110 degrees, and we were about halfway through a 20 yard pour for a driveway. The mix just started to flash set right in the truck chute. I yelled for the driver to add some water, but he said his water tank was almost empty. We ended hosing down the subgrade and the forms like crazy to cool everything off, and I had my crew work in smaller sections to stay ahead of it. Anyone have a better trick for dealing with that sudden heat set?

Ever try keeping a few bags of ice in a cooler on site to toss into the mix at the truck?

Why not just keep the whole mix in a cooler?
