I bought a $400 laser level for slab work and it was a total mistake
I mean, everyone on the crew was talking about how a laser level would change the game, so I saved up and got one. I figured it would make setting forms and checking grade way faster. But honestly, on a real job site, it was more trouble than it was worth. The sun washed it out half the time, and any little bump or vibration from a truck rolling by would knock it out of whack. I spent more time resetting it and checking it with my old trusty transit than I ever saved. After three months of fighting with it, I sold it for half what I paid. Maybe it's just me, but I think a good old fashioned water level and a sharp eye are still the best tools for the job. Has anyone else had a bad time with these on outdoor pours?

You used to think they were the future? I had the same exact problem with mine on a windy site.

Oh man, I was so hyped for mine too. Thought I was getting a game-changer, but it ended up just changing my mood every time the wind blew it over lol. Guess "future tech" doesn't factor in basic physics like gravity.
