That PC elitist at the LAN party changed how I see frame rates
Last month I brought my Xbox Series S to a friend's LAN party in Portland, and this guy with a $3,000 rig kept going on about how 120 fps is the only way to play. He laughed at my 60 fps setup until we fired up a racing game and I beat him three laps straight on a controller. He went quiet for a bit, then admitted it was the input latency from his wireless mouse that was messing him up. Has anyone else had a moment where a console player wrecked a PC snob's argument just by playing better?

My buddy Karl once beat a dude with a $4,000 setup at a Smash tournament using a GameCube controller plugged into a beat-up laptop, and the guy just sat there blaming his mechanical keyboard for three minutes straight. It was beautiful watching all that gear get outplayed by pure timing.

Admit I used to be all about specs and gear until I saw a buddy wreck someone with a beat-up controller and a crusty laptop at a local tourney. That night killed my whole mindset about hardware being the secret to winning. It's like timing and reads matter way more than whatever you're plugging in, and that's stuck with me ever since.
