Had a weird argument with my neighbor last night about chemtrails
I live in a small town outside Phoenix, and my neighbor Dave came over around 8pm ranting about those white lines in the sky. He said the government has been spraying aluminum oxide since 1999 to control the weather. I told him I used to work at a local airport and those are just contrails from planes, water vapor freezing at high altitude. He pulled out his phone and showed me a YouTube video from last month claiming the EPA tested soil samples and found barium. I told him those tests were debunked by a university study in 2018, but he just shook his head. He even said there's a higher cancer rate in our county since 2010. I looked it up later and it's actually lower than average here. Has anyone else dealt with a neighbor who takes this stuff way too seriously?

Grabbed a beer with my guy and just let him talk it out. Worked better than facts.

@mark611 gets it. Really does. Sometimes guys just need a safe space to vent without someone trying to fix everything. The beer helps too, loosens the tongue a bit.
That listening without judging thing? Underrated skill. Most people jump in too fast with solutions when really the person just needs to hear themselves talk through it. My buddy went through a rough patch last year and same thing. Just sat there, nodded, bought the next round.
Facts come later when the head is clearer. First you gotta let the feelings out.
