Remember when we used to mix foundation shades by eye in the back room?

The self checkout at my local hardware store is a total mess... half the time the scanner doesn't catch the barcode and you have to call someone over. Last week I spent eight minutes trying to buy a single bag of mulch because the machine kept freezing. Three different employees had to come help me. I'd rather stand in the regular line and actually talk to a human than fight with those machines anymore. It just feels like they're designed to frustrate you into leaving without buying anything.

I took a cheap 2-person tent and a quality 1-person tent on a 3-day hike in the Adirondacks and the smaller one was better.

Absolutely, that extra room is tempting until you're stuck in a downpour with gear soaked through. My first cheap tent collapsed on me during a storm and it was such a nightmare trying to keep everything dry while fixing broken poles. That lesson stuck with me - now I'd take solid three-season performance over extra square footage any day.

Warning: Coworking memberships in Bali are way more expensive than people think if you actually need reliable wifi

Hop on a speedtest before you buy anything. Most listings say "fiber" but it's shared across 30 laptops and a few discord streams. I tested a place in Berawa last month that showed 50mbps down but during peak hours it crawled to 5. That's the real hidden cost nobody pays attention to.

I picked Arch over Revit for a residential project last month

Oh man, three days of menu hunting and I was ready to throw my laptop out the window. Good thing I didn't because the curtain wall details actually came out looking like someone who knows what they're doing designed them, not like a blindfolded toddler with a mouse. Honest question though, is it really re-learning the whole thing or just forgetting where Revit hid all the good stuff? I feel like ArchiCAD at least puts the important buttons where your hand naturally goes instead of making you play hide and seek. Your desk will forgive you eventually.

Had to change my whole dig plan after that Roman site in Bath

Started turning on my phone light and looking at the ground from different angles. Made a huge difference, suddenly stuff that just looked like a shadow popped right out.
