That missing chip in my laptop from 2018 - some guy on Reddit found it first
Last week I decided to clean out my old laptop from 2018. Found a tiny chip near the USB port that I always blamed on a clumsy friend. Looked it up and turns out a bunch of people on the Acer reddit got the same exact chip missing. Software issue from the factory, not physical damage. Kept that grudge for 6 years for nothing. Anyone else hang onto a false conspiracy about their gear for way too long?

Oh man, the "kept that grudge for 6 years for nothing" line hits hard. I had a similar thing with my old Samsung phone where the screen would flicker sometimes and I swore up and down it was because I dropped it once. Turned out it was a known driver issue they patched later. I spent a whole year feeling guilty about that drop for no reason. It's wild how we let these little hardware mysteries live in our heads rent free. Now I always check forums first before blaming myself or someone else. Saves a lot of unnecessary anger.

Isn't it funny how we just assume the worst is our fault? I dropped my old tablet once, and then every little glitch after that felt like my punishment or something. Turns out the battery was just swelling from age, but I spent months feeling like I broke it for no good reason. Checking forums first is such a solid rule now, it really saves you from carrying around that guilt for way too long.
