My site superintendent called me out on being a 'paperwork perfectionist' and it actually made sense

We were standing on site last Tuesday in the middle of a pour (Rapid City job, pouring a slab for a warehouse extension) and he just stopped mid-conversation. Said I spend too much time making my daily logs look like a novel when nobody reads them anyway. He was kinda laughing but serious. He said 'the concrete doesn't care how pretty your report looks. It just needs to be a straight line.' Hit different because I have been stressing over formatting for months. Has anyone else had a coworker tell you something that made you rethink how you track stuff?

Man I feel this one. I once spent two hours color coding a daily report by trade and the foreman threw it in the trash right in front of me, said he just needed to know if the rebar was tied. Lesson learned the hard way. Now I keep it short and ugly, never been happier.

Did you take a pic of him throwing it away so you could photoshop a trophy onto his hand?
