The $1,200 laser level that finally paid for itself

I was skeptical about spending that much on a rotary laser for our crew in Austin, but after two months of using it to set footings and anchors, it cut our layout time by almost half. My old string method meant rechecking everything twice, and the new unit just holds its line through the dust and heat. We did a 14-unit townhome slab last week and hit every corner within a quarter inch on the first shot. Has anyone else found a piece of equipment that seemed overpriced until it saved you on a tight schedule?
