A painter in Tucson told me to my face he would not fix the trim, and it is the only review I ever wrote
Hired this crew to repaint our place last spring and the trim work came out wavy, like you could see brush marks from the street. I called the owner and he came out, walked the house for 10 minutes, and said "that is what paint does on old wood" while standing right next to a spot where he had painted over a bug. I paid $2,400 and he would not come back for a touch up, so I left a 2 star review with photos on Google and Angi. He called me two days later yelling about the review and still never fixed it. Now I save every text and take photos before I hand over a check. Has anyone had any luck getting a contractor to actually respond to a bad review, or do you just eat it and move on?
The thing nobody talks about is that a bad review costs him way more than the touch up ever would, and he KNOWS it. That is why he called yelling instead of just coming back with a brush. In Tucson there are maybe 40 painters fighting for the same jobs, and one 2 star review with photos sitting at the top of his Google page kills his leads for months. So here is the play. Do not delete or edit that review, just go back and add an update saying he called and yelled at you about it. Now the review is not about wavy trim, it is about how he treats people after he cashes the check. That update does more damage than the photos ever did, and it is all true, so he has zero room to complain.
