I finally picked between an all staff email and a Slack post for our layoff news, and the Slack route blew up in my face
Last Tuesday our HR lead told me to break the news about 40 cuts to the whole company, and I had to choose between one big email or a short Slack message with a link. I went with Slack because it felt faster and more personal, and within 20 minutes a screenshot was on Reddit and a reporter from Bloomberg was emailing our press line. My boss pulled me into a call at 4pm and said the email would have at least kept it contained. Has anyone else had to pick between those two and actually gotten it right?
