Our CEO's town hall script went from 3 pages to a single napkin and it landed way harder
For the layoff announcement last month I had to pick between a long careful script and a short plain one, and I went with short. Four sentences, no corporate words, and the all-hands chat had 60 messages in a half hour, mostly people saying they finally understood what was happening. Now I'm wondering if the long script ever did anything except cover legal, so how do you all handle the push to soften bad news?
