Waited 3 weeks for sign-off on a 2 paragraph memo

Ran into this at my last company. Wrote a simple product recall notice, 2 paragraphs, clear as day. It sat in legal review for 15 business days. Then marketing wanted changes. Then the CEO's assistant had notes. Total time from draft to send was 26 days. For a notice that needed to go out same week. How do you push things through without burning bridges? Has anyone else had a simple comms task balloon like this?

Don't frame it as "simple" because that's probably the issue right there. Legal sees a recall notice and thinks liability, not words. A 2 paragraph memo about a product recall has way more risk baked into it than, say, an internal pizza party announcement. You've got to label the urgency upfront, like "this needs to ship by Friday or we're eating the cost of returns" so they know the deadline is real, not just a preference. Still annoying, but it explains the 15 days better than pure laziness.
