My mom said 'you're already pretty, why risk it?' right before my lip filler consult

So I was telling my mom about my appointment for lip filler last week, thinking she'd be neutral about it. She looked me dead in the eye and said 'you're already pretty, why risk it?' and it honestly hit different because she never compliments me like that. It made me pause and think about whether I want the procedure for me or because I scroll too much on Instagram. Has anyone else had a family member drop an unexpected comment that made you second guess your plans?

@logan648 yeah the unfollowing thing really helped me too. I took a two week break from Instagram and noticed I stopped caring so much about my forehead lines and my bank account looked a lot healthier. Maybe just sit on the consult for a few weeks and see if you still want it.

my mom hit me with the same "youre already cute enough" speech when i mentioned wanting botox for my 11 lines. the thing is i scrolled instagram for 3 hours that night and convinced myself i wanted them gone because of some 20 year old influencer talking about "preventative aging." then i looked in the mirror and realized my moms probably right and my wallet is definitely happier when i just unfollow the accounts that make me feel bad about my face lol
