Vent: my sister said skip the medspa and just use retinol, she was WRONG

My sister has good skin and she kept telling me to save my money and just buy a $12 tube of retinol from Target instead of paying for real treatments. I listened to her for 8 months and my forehead lines did not move one bit. I finally went to a medspa in Phoenix and dropped $350 on Botox and the lines were gone in 5 days. Now she is mad at me for not listening to her, but the proof is literally on my face. Has anyone else had a family member give them skin advice that totally flopped?
