Stop bleaching over old toner without strand testing first

Ngl I keep seeing people at my salon slap fresh bleach right over leftover toner like it's nothing. Just last week a girl came in with orange splotches all over her crown because she didn't realize her previous toner had metallic salts in it. I've been doing hair for 6 years and I learned the hard way after I ruined a client's balayage back in 2019. That one mistake cost me a $250 correction and two hours of my Friday night. If you don't test a small section first you can end up with weird hot roots or uneven lift. Has anyone else had a toner reaction mess up their whole schedule?

My sister once asked me to fix her orange roots and I figured "how bad could it be?" Ended up with a patch of green on her hairline that looked like I tried to dye it with lime jello mix. Strand tests save lives and hair folks

And honestly that's just how life works sometimes isn't it? You think one little shortcut or quick fix is fine and then suddenly you're dealing with a whole new problem you never saw coming. It's the same reason I always double check my measurements when cooking now, one "eh close enough" moment and suddenly dinner tastes like a chemistry experiment.
