The swim coach who told me to stop fighting the water
I was six months into training and my 100m splits were stuck at 2:10 no matter what I did. A coach watched me for five minutes at the pool in Austin and said, "You're pulling like you're mad at the water, not moving through it." He made me slow my stroke way down and focus on a long glide before the catch. My pace dropped to 1:55 within three weeks, just from stopping the death grip on every pull. I also stopped holding my breath on the exhale, which felt wrong at first but fixed my side stitch. My advice is to get someone to watch your form early, even if it costs $60 for one session. Has anyone else gotten a tiny correction that made a huge difference in their swim time?

Did you film your stroke before or after that coach told you that?
