Found an old logbook from 1987 in a machine I bought
Bought a used Grove RT at auction last month. Found a spiral notebook jammed behind the seat. Guy kept a daily log in there for 3 years. He was picking 45 tons daily with a 30 ton rated crane. No computer, no load indicators. Just a feel for the machine and a hand signal from his spotter. Really made me think about how much gear we rely on now. Anyone else find old stuff left in their rigs?

Funny you mention that, my old man used to say back then you had to "feel" the load because the crane sure wasn't gonna tell you. I'm pretty sure I'd just end up on my roof after the first pick.

Ha! Yeah I'd probably end up 50 feet in the air wondering why my gut feeling wasn't working.
