Guy on site swore his crane was 'self-leveling' during a lunch break debate
Honestly, overheard a younger operator bragging about his remote crane having some new auto-leveling feature. Told him that sounds great until a sensor fails and youre picking a 15 ton beam at a 10 degree tilt. He looked at me like I had three heads, but I just laughed and said good luck with that software update. Anyone else run into guys who trust the tech a little too much on uneven ground?

Man, I get where you're coming from. Nothing wrong with trusting good tech, but on a jobsite that's never flat or perfect? That's a whole different ballgame. Makes me nervous just thinking about it.

Nah, I mean think about it... cars have been self-leveling air suspension for years now and that works fine most of the time. If the tech is solid and they test it properly, why not let the machine do the hard work for you? You still gotta watch the load, sensors just help you not screw up.
