I used to think daily load charts were a waste of time
Our foreman started making us do a quick load chart review every morning last month, and I figured it was just busywork from the office. Then we had a job with a 38-ton pick in tight clearance, and I caught a radius issue during the review that would have put us over capacity. Has anyone else found a routine check that actually saved them on site?

Oh wow, 38 tons in tight clearance, what was the radius that would've busted you?

Ran into something similar moving a 40 ton excavator bucket down a narrow alley last year. I had maybe 3 inches on each side for about 60 feet. What saved me was having a spotter at the front and the back, and I went real slow. No sudden steering inputs, just tiny micro adjustments. The back end swings way more than you expect, so I kept a mental note of where my rear wheels were tracking.
