Just learned cranes can lift 20x more with a luffing jib, how did I miss that for 11 years

Been running tower cranes since 2013, mostly flat tops on residential jobs in Charlotte. Last week I was killing time on a slow site and read through the spec manual for a Liebherr 1100 I've used at least 30 times. Turns out hook height jumps from 62 meters to 79 meters if you swap in the luffing jib attachment. I felt like a total idiot, all those years I just assumed the max height on the sticker was the max height period. Nobody on my crew ever mentioned it, and my foreman looked at me like I had two heads when I brought it up. I've done 40+ pick cycles on that machine, so it's not like I'm green. Has anyone else discovered a basic capability of their rig way later than they should have, or is it just me? I'm half tempted to call the rental company Monday and ask what else I'm missing.

Hold up, I gotta push back here. You ran that machine 40 plus times and never cracked the manual once? I mean, I get it, the sticker is what you trust on site, but the luffing jib is not some hidden secret, it's a basic option. I've been on tower cranes for 15 years, and the first thing I check on a new rig is the full attachment list, not just the base setup. That's like driving a truck for a decade and only finding out it has 4WD locked in the glovebox. You're not dumb, but you might be lazy, and that's worse. Call the rental guy Monday, but also ask him about the ballast config, because I bet you're missing something there too.
