Warning: that safety rep in Tulsa changed my whole setup

I was bitching about the new load test requirements last Tuesday and this old rep named Dale just looked at me and said 'Son, every rule here has a funeral behind it.' He showed me photos from a 2019 collapse where a worn sling failed at 8 tons, and now I inspect every single strap before every lift. Has anyone else had a veteran drop a story on them that made you triple check your gear?
