Showerthought: I spent 15 years killing my characters with the same setup
Was reading back through my old stories from high school and realized every single time someone died it was a car crash in the rain - I didn't notice until my writing group called it out last month. Anybody else got a crutch scene they lean on too much without realizing?

Hey, @parkerk56 I think you meant "your writing group," not "your reading group"...

Man that's rough but also kind of hilarious. Rainy car crashes every single time must have been a real mood killer for your readers. I had a phase where every villain died by falling off something tall, like a cliff or a building or even a staircase. It took a friend screaming at me about gravity before I noticed. Your writing group did you a solid by calling it out though, even if it stung a little. Now you get to spice up those death scenes, which is honestly a good problem to have.
