Found a $25 mystery charge on my credit report from a gym I quit in 2021

I was sitting in my car outside a coffee shop in Phoenix last Thursday checking my FICO score and noticed a collections mark from some Gold's Gym I went to three years ago. Turned out they never canceled my membership after I moved, so I had to fight them for 45 minutes on the phone to get it removed - has anyone else had a gym refuse to honor a cancellation?

Seems like they counted on you not checking your credit report for years.

Walked into that conversation expecting them to say "sorry" and got hit with a 45-minute runaround where they tried to charge me for a "final payment" I apparently missed in 2021. Guess they figured I'd just forget about it like I forgot about my New Year's resolution from that year. Love how gyms act like canceling is harder than actually working out there.
