I always thought checking my own credit hurt my score until I went to the bank in Tacoma.
The loan officer there pulled my report and showed me the soft inquiry section, explaining that my own checks don't count. I was avoiding looking at my score for months because I was scared to hurt it. Does anyone know if all the free score apps use soft pulls too?

Wait, so checking your own score is actually fine? I thought it hurt it too.

Right? That was a total game changer for me too, @jason752. I spent months avoiding my own profile like it was cursed, scared to even peek. Then I found out it doesn't matter at all (which honestly felt a little silly). Now I check mine all the time, just to see if a new comment got a like or something. It's so much less stressful just being able to look.
