Appreciation post: my local hardware store went from a ghost town to packed in under a year
I live in a small town in Ohio and our only hardware place was awful, you'd wait 20 minutes just to ask where the nails were. Then a new family bought it six months ago. Now they greet you at the door, actually walk you to the item, and remember your name. The difference is night and day, the place is always busy now. It made me realize good service isn't some big secret, it's just trying. Has anyone else seen a business totally turn around like that?

That's the power of actually caring about your customers. It costs nothing but a bit of effort, and people notice. More places should take that simple lesson.

Wait, they actually walk you to the item? That's a level of service I haven't seen since I was a kid. Most places just point and grunt. It's amazing how far a little effort goes. Good for that family for bringing a real business back to life.

Wait, did they really buy it six months ago? The post says under a year but then says six months... maybe it was just a quick turnaround. Either way, it's wild how fast a place can change when the people running it actually want to help.
