Called my internet company about a slow connection and they told me to 'restart the universe'.

The guy on the phone insisted my modem needed a 'full cosmic reboot' and asked if I had tried unplugging it for exactly 47 seconds. After a week of daily calls, they finally sent a tech who found a squirrel had chewed the line outside. Has anyone else gotten advice that was just completely out of this world from a help desk?

Ever have a tech support person tell you to do something that made no sense? One time my wifi kept dropping and they told me to move my router to a different "energy zone" in my house, like near a plant. I tried it for a week and nothing changed. I finally just bought a longer cable and moved it to the center of the house myself, which actually fixed it. Why do they come up with these weird ideas instead of just checking the basics first?
