Compared password managers last month and the free one nearly cost me my login access

My brother's Google account got locked out after using a free manager that didn't sync properly, and switching to a paid one with real-time backup saved me from the same nightmare when my laptop crashed two days later - has anyone else had a close call with a free tool that seemed fine at first?

That part about the free manager not syncing properly is exactly what got my brother too. He was using a free one that synced to cloud storage but had a bug where it wouldn't update if you changed a password on your phone, so when his laptop died he lost everything that wasn't already saved from weeks before. Google locked him out because the stored password on his laptop was outdated and he couldn't remember the new one since he relied on the manager so much. I switched to a paid one that has local backups alongside cloud sync, and even though it costs like $3 a month, the peace of mind from knowing I won't get locked out of my accounts is worth it. What did you end up switching to after that close call?

And the worst part is free ones rarely warn you before a sync fails either.
