Found a way to block phishing texts with a fake phone number

For 3 months I kept getting these scam texts pretending to be my bank, driving me nuts. I tried reporting them to 7726 but new ones just kept coming. Then I set up a Google Voice number and used it as the contact for any sketchy signup forms, that filtered the junk instantly. Now my real phone stays clean, but I wonder if I'm just hiding the problem instead of fixing it. Anyone else use a separate number for risky stuff, or do you think it's a waste of time lmao?

GOSH that reminds me of when I accidentally gave my real number to a psychic hotline and RIP my voicemail.
