I almost sent data to a fake boss email because it looked right

I used to click on any email from management right away. A phishing scam perfectly mimicked our CEO's style and asked for private employee details, and I was about to reply. Now I always call to confirm weird requests, so what do you do to check emails?

Always calling to check emails is overkill. It assumes every message is a threat, which isn't true. Just use your head and move on.

Seriously, you only need to check the sender's actual email address! I almost got fooled by a fake Amazon delivery notice last week because the name looked real. The actual address was a jumble of letters at some weird domain. Now I hover over every "customer service" link before clicking. It takes two seconds and saved me from a fake invoice scam just yesterday.
