Password managers vs. writing passwords down - I was on one side until my shop got hit

For years I swore by keeping a little notebook in my locked drawer at the shop. Felt safer than trusting some app. Then last month someone got into my personal email through a reused password. My brother had been nagging me to try Bitwarden for like 2 years. I finally set it up after that and honestly I get it now. But I still wonder - am I just trading one risk for another? What made you guys choose one way or the other?

Read a piece from some security researcher who put it pretty well. He said the real risk isn't the password manager itself, it's how you use it. If you pick a strong master password and use two factor auth, you're probably safer than a notebook sitting in a drawer that could get stolen or lost in a fire. The notebook worked fine until it didn't, just like my reused passwords. I think the main thing is being realistic about your own habits. Most people who lose data lose it because they got lazy, not because their tool failed them.
