Spent $40 on a hardware security key and it locked me out of my own accounts
I bought a Yubikey last month thinking it was the best way to protect my email and bank login. It worked fine until I lost the key during a trip, and the backup codes I printed got wet and smudged. Now I can't get into my main email for three days while support tries to verify it's me. Has anyone else had a bad time with these keys and found a simpler backup plan?

That backup code thing is rough... I had a similar scare when my phone died with the authenticator app on it. Took forever to get back into my old gaming account.
