Tried using a coupon stacking site to save on camping gear last month
Found this site that claimed to stack 4 coupons on a big tent order. Spent 2 hours hunting down codes and applying them. Cart kept erroring out at checkout. Turns out the site was just aggregating expired codes from 2021. Wasted a whole Saturday morning. Anyone else find these coupon stacker sites are mostly garbage?

Is a wasted Saturday morning really that big of a deal though? I mean, you found out the site was garbage, you saved yourself from actually buying whatever tent you were looking at, maybe you dodged a bullet. Coupon stacking sites have always been a gamble, and getting worked up about some expired codes from a few years back seems like making a mountain out of a molehill. You could've just googled "REI coupon 2024" and moved on with your life in ten minutes. Those sites are mostly run by bots and people trying to scrape ad revenue, not actual coupon wizards. You probably learned more about how online shopping works than you would have from scoring a deal, right?

Those fake coupon sites always have the same expired codes from 2019 anyway. I spent two hours last month trying to stack deals on a camping stove and ended up with a cart full of stuff that would have cost me triple what I could find at Walmart. You're right about the bot farms too, they cycle through the same 30 codes from three years ago and call it a "new update." Honestly, finding out the site is garbage early is better than getting your hopes up and realizing it at checkout with a cart full of stuff you don't need. At least you didn't give them your email to get spammed with "exclusive deals" every day for the next year.
