Hit 45 gallons of sap boiled down to 1 gallon of syrup and it blew my mind
I tapped 3 maple trees in my backyard for the first time this spring after watching a bunch of YouTube videos. Collected sap for about 2 weeks straight, maybe 45 gallons total from those trees. I knew there was a ratio but seeing it all boil down to just 1 single gallon of syrup really surprised me. All that effort for what fits in a milk jug kind of puts things in perspective. It made me wonder how the big producers even bother with such a small payoff per tree. Has anyone else tried backyard tapping and gotten a different ratio than the usual 40 to 1?

Same ratio here. Kinda how everything good takes way more work than it looks.
