I finally checked the stats on tap water vs bottled and it blew my mind

I was reading through a report from the Natural Resources Defense Council the other day and found out that about 25% of bottled water is literally just tap water in a plastic bottle. I always figured it was some filtered spring thing but nope, they just run it through a basic filter and charge 300 times more. Does that change how you guys buy water or am I overthinking it?

Wait, dont they also have those studies showing microplastics leach into the bottled water if it sits too long in the sun? @abbyd36 youre totally right about the filter paying off, I think the real scam is they market it as "pure" when half the time its just municipal supply.

My parents had the same realization a few years back so we bought a decent countertop filter and it paid for itself in like 2 months. Now we just fill up reusable bottles and im honestly never going back, the water tastes fine. Honestly the markup on bottled water is ridiculous once you see the numbers.
