Just debated my buddy over paper vs. plastic straws at a diner in Ohio last night
I picked paper and it got soggy halfway through my milkshake, has anyone else found a brand that actually holds up for more than 5 minutes?

Wait, were they standard paper straws or the thicker restaurant-grade ones? I've noticed some diners use those flimsy recycled ones that dissolve the second they hit liquid, but a place near me stocks a coated paper straw that actually lasts through a whole shake. Maybe it's a supplier thing rather than a brand issue, could be worth checking if your diner buys from a local distributor or a national chain.

Totally agree, I had the same thing happen at a breakfast spot last week. They handed me these thin paper straws that basically turned into mush before I even finished my coffee, but then I remembered the place down the street uses a coated kind that actually works fine. It really does seem like it's all about who's buying the straws, not the general idea of paper straws being useless.
