My laptop battery finally lasts a full workday after 3 months of tweaking settings

I was getting maybe 4 hours before, but switching to a lower brightness and turning off background apps that I didn't need pushed it to over 8 hours. What simple changes actually worked for you all to boost battery life without slowing things down?

Honestly, turning off wifi when I'm not using it made a huge difference for me lol. On my old Dell I'd get around 3 hours on a good day, but after switching airplane mode on during meetings and dimming the screen to like 40%, it jumped to almost 7 hours. Also disabling Bluetooth and closing Chrome tabs that were just sitting there helped a ton. Those little things really add up over a full day.

Actually I read this article from a laptop reviewer that said the biggest battery killer is background apps refreshing. Like I had Spotify just sitting there in the system tray and it was using up power even when I wasn't listening. Also apparently keeping your battery between 20% and 80% makes it last way longer over time, not just for one day but for the whole life of the laptop. I tried that on my last machine and it still held a decent charge after two years. The wifi tip is real though, especially if you're in a place with weak signal because the laptop works harder to stay connected.
