The $127 avocado toast that broke my budget brain
I did something stupid last Tuesday. Walked into a fancy cafe in Portland, ordered avocado toast and a latte. $18. No big deal, right? Then I looked at my credit card statement later. Found out I had been doing that same $18 ritual every single Tuesday for 3 years straight. That's $2,808 on fancy toast and coffee. My car payment is $287 a month. I could own this car twice over with toast money. Has anyone else added up a small habit and wanted to cry?

Switching to buying bulk avocados and brewing coffee at home saved me over a hundred bucks a month.

Add prepping your own cold brew in big batches. I get the cheap store brand beans, grind them coarse, let them sit in water for 24 hours. That stuff lasts me two weeks in the fridge. And avocados I buy when they're on sale then freeze the mashed stuff in ice cube trays. Thaw a cube for toast or guac. Makes the hundred bucks turn into even more savings.
