Hit 1000 days on my Duolingo streak by accident - didn't even notice until last week

I logged into Duolingo last Tuesday and saw it said 1000 days. I honestly didn't believe it. I started learning Spanish just for kicks after a trip to Argentina three years ago. I never set a goal or pushed for streaks, I just did five minutes here and there. But hitting exactly 1000 made me think about all those tiny habits that add up without you realizing. Does anyone else hit a random milestone and suddenly stop to question if you actually learned anything along the way?

My cat stepped on my keyboard during a Spanish lesson once and somehow enrolled me in French, now I'm 200 days into both languages and can't remember which words go where.

I get what you mean about stopping to question if you actually learned anything, @janaw11's situation is a perfect example of how easy it is to lose track. I used to think streaks were just vanity numbers until I realized I could hold a decent conversation in Spanish without overthinking it. Those small, mindless sessions do add up, you just don't notice until something like that 1000 day mark smacks you in the face.
