My washing machine drum started thumping like a jackhammer last night

I was doing a normal load of towels around 9 PM and suddenly the machine started shaking so hard it moved 6 inches across the floor. I stopped it, pulled out the towels, and found a single bra strap had wrapped around the center post. Took me 15 minutes with a flashlight and a pair of tweezers to free it. Has anyone else had a random piece of clothing cause total chaos in their machine like that?

Found a stray sock once that wrapped around the center post in my old Samsung and made it sound like it was trying to launch itself into orbit. I switched to front loaders and havent had that problem since because theres no center post for stuff to snag on.

My buddy Mike had an old Whirlpool top loader from like 2005. He lost a pair of those thick wool hiking socks and found them a month later all twisted up around the agitator. It made this LOUD thumping noise every time it spun, like a helicopter was landing in his laundry room. He had to cut the socks off with scissors because they were so wrapped up they wouldn't budge. That was the final straw for him. He went out and bought a front loader the next weekend and said it was the best money he ever spent.
