Classic home repair trap. You chase down the hardest possible fix first because you think it has to be complicated. Then you realize the real problem was something dumb and easy the whole time. My garbage disposal had me rebuilding the whole sink drain once. Turned out a fork had just fallen in and was blocking the blade. Thirty seconds with a pair of pliers and I felt like an idiot.

Pulled the whole kitchen sink apart once because the drain was clogged. Disassembled the entire P-trap, snaked the pipe, even crawled under the house to check the main line. Turned out someone had dropped a chopstick down the disposal and it was just wedged sideways. Yanked it out, everything worked fine. Felt like I'd just rebuilt a car engine to find a dead battery. Now I always check for the dumb stuff first even though I know I'm going to feel stupid either way.
