My friend told me to stop using the default Photoshop brush for line art, and I didn't listen for a year.

That "I didn't listen for a year" part is so real. I see this everywhere, not just with art. People get comfortable with a tool that works okay, even when a better one is right there. It's like using a dull kitchen knife because you're used to it, even though a sharp one makes everything easier. We stick with the default because changing feels like admitting we were wrong, or it just seems like too much effort to learn. But that year of harder work is such a waste once you finally make the switch.

Totally get that. It happens with phone settings too, like never turning on dark mode even though it's easier on the eyes. People will squint at a bright screen for months just because they didn't poke around in the menu for two minutes. The comfort of the familiar is a crazy strong force, even when it's clearly working against you. Makes you wonder what else we're all putting up with just to avoid a tiny bit of short-term hassle.
