Coffee shop internet died mid-call in Medellin last week
I was on a Zoom with a client in Austin and bam, the whole cafe's wifi went down. This was at a place I thought had solid connection, cost me like $5 for a cortado too. Had to run 3 blocks to a coworking space and still missed 10 minutes of the meeting. The client was cool about it but now I'm thinking I need a backup plan. Does anyone here carry a portable hotspot or just rely on cafe wifi?

man that sucks i feel you so hard. i lost a similar call in bogota last month at a cafe that looked like it was built for remote work and it just dropped out of nowhere. now i always have my phone hotspot ready even if the wifi seems good, because those colombian connections can be so spotty. you never know when the router will just give up or the whole area loses power for a minute. do you think it was just a bad day or is that cafe known for unreliable internet?
