That digital nomad influencer told me to work from cafes, but it wrecked my focus for 6 weeks

I followed some guy's advice to "embrace the chaos" and write code from coffee shops in Chiang Mai. Turns out I need silence and a stable chair - my freelance output dropped by 40% before I booked a cheap co-living room. Anyone else find cafe work overrated for actual productivity?

40% drop over six weeks sounds like you're tracking it way too close. Missed a few deadlines because of bad wifi and shaky tables, sure, but calling it a career wreck seems a bit much. Sometimes the vibe of a busy spot fires you up more than a quiet room would anyway.

The 40% drop sounds about right. I did the same thing in Bali for two months and my output fell off a cliff. I found that noise-cancelling headphones helped a little for focus, but the worst part was constantly scanning for an outlet or a clean table. A cheap co-living space with a proper desk saved my freelance career too.
