Back when I just guessed at dishwasher cycle lengths
I used to just set my dishwasher for the longest cycle and hope for the best, then my machine started throwing error code 7-2. After spending 3 hours on YouTube and talking to a repair guy in Cedar Rapids, I learned to actually measure water temp before each cycle. Now I check the inlet water hits 120 degrees using a cheap kitchen thermometer, and I haven't had a single code pop up in 5 months. Anyone else find that one little change made a big difference?

Ngl, reading that you actually check the water temp with a kitchen thermometer before every cycle kind of blew my mind. I mean, I get being thorough, but that's some next level dedication. I just set mine and pray it doesn't flood the kitchen, honestly. The fact that you spent 3 hours on YouTube and talked to a repair guy in Cedar Rapids just to figure out a 5 month fix makes me feel like I've been living in the dark ages with my dishwasher. Props to you though, that's way smarter than my method of just hitting the heavy cycle and crossing my fingers.

Last summer my neighbor tried to fix her own dishwasher and ended up with soap bubbles flooding onto the street. The fire department had to come because someone thought it was a gas leak. Now every time I see her she gives me this look like "at least your dishes are clean." Her husband still won't let her near the laundry room.
