Appreciation post: I keep seeing people skip the primer step before painting kitchen cabinets and it drives me nuts.

Waste of time" is the kind of thing people say to feel better about skipping steps. I see it everywhere, like when someone just slaps new paint over old peeling stuff because they're in a hurry. It looks okay for a minute, then it all goes bad. Price.rowan is right that some paint jobs hold up, but that's luck, not a plan. It's like not prepping a wall before you hang a picture, sure it might stay up, but you're just asking for a crash later.

Honestly, is skipping primer really that big of a deal? I've seen plenty of paint jobs hold up just fine without it.
